300 years on .............................
The 1718 Coverlet features quilt blocks from the oldest dated British Patchwork Coverlet
Susan Briscoe in her publication The 1718 Coverlet, (300 years old this year) made from silk, provides inspiration. The coverlet is so called as it is made without wadding. The Coverlet was recreated by the British Quilters’ Guild, started in 2001 and completed by 2004 under the direction of Pauline Adams replica organiser. In Susan Briscoe’s book you discover how this unique coverlet was acquired by the Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles in order to preserve it for future generations. Included are full-size templates for each of the blocks so you can recreate the entire coverlet in fabrics of your choice and features instructions for the traditional mosaic piecing techniques used to create the original, as well as modern patchwork techniques for quicker piecing. |

A highlight of our time in Tokyo was a visit to the Amuse Museum, featuring Japanese Arts and Craft, especially the Boro exhibit. Boro was a technique of sewing many pieces of hemp and cotton cloths together creating bedding or clothing
